Half Marathons between Christmas and New Year

The days between Christmas and New Year can leave some of us a bit restless. It is a great time to get some training done, or go out and invest in some new running kit. However, for those of us looking for races during this 'Festive Gap', it can be a bit of a desert of opportunity.

Here are a few half marathons we've found running over these few days:

Organised by How Hard Can It Be Events, this a friendly race with participants running laps up to their chosen distance - 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, or Ultra.

Year End Time Turner

Saturn

Location : Staines, Surrey
Date : 27 December 2025

Runners follow a multi-terrain course along the Thames riverside, running 4.37 mile laps. Options are available to run any of 5 different distances - 5K, 7K, half marathon, full marathon and 50K ultra.

Organised by Phoenix Running, this low key event follows a 4-lap, flat and fast, out-and-back course next to the River Thames, from Walton-on-Thames to Hampton Court and back. There is also the option to run a marathon.

Organised by Phoenix Running, festive event follows a 5.3K route alongside the River Thames. There are also the options to run a 5K, 10K, marathon or ultra.
