The Big Dipper Half Marathon, organised by Dronfield Running Club is describes as "one of the toughest half marathon road races in the country".
There is also a Little Dipper 2K race.
Big Dipper Half Marathon Route
Starting at the Hyde Park Inn at the aptly named 'hill top' area, runners head out through the village of
Barlow towards Shillito Woods. They then continue with a climb through the hamlet of Unthank, before heading back
into barlow and skirting the edge of holmesfield.
The course is run exclusively on closed roads, showing off much of the impressive local countryside.
